My photos from the media call this morning, Thursday, October 02, 2014, for the musical, Once.

I attended and photographed a moving media call this morning, Thursday, October 2, 2014, for the new, multi-award winning musical, Once, which opens officially this Saturday night, 04 October 2014, at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre. I will attend the show's opening night.

I say “moving” because of the tenderly beautiful songs and music that were featured during the call.

You see, Once is a love story, set to music.

Once features the Academy Award winning song, "Falling Slowly". A real tear-jerker.

Below I've copied some details regarding the show, which were provided to media by the show's producers and publicists, Bridges PR:

"Based on the Irish film which became a surprise international hit in 2006, and won an Oscar for
Best Song (“Falling Slowly”), ONCE follows the tender romance of a struggling Irish busker and a
piano-playing Czech immigrant.

The folk rock musical features the brilliant collection of songs about love, longing and heartbreak from the original film by Glen Hansard (The Frames) and Markéta Irglová.

The set is a working bar, with audiences invited on set for a drink upon entering the theatre, immediately setting the scene for a late night lock-in within a typical Irish pub.

It has been adapted for the stage by British Director John Tiffany and celebrated Irish playwright
and screenwriter, Enda Walsh (Disco Pigs and Hunger).

The musical that has captivated audiences in London, New York and Dublin makes its Australian premiere at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre on October 4."

Below are some of my favourite images I took during the media call. I also took two videos of the call. For space reasons, I won’t post those videos.

I captured all images and videos with my wonderful Panasonic Lumix FZ1000.

The Last Confession, a play starring David Suchet. Media Call images from the call at The Comedy Theatre on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 12 noon.

The Last Confession, a play starring David Suchet.

Media Call images from the call at Melbourne's Comedy Theatre on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 12 noon.

I was very pleased to attend today’s - Wednesday, September 3, 2014 - media call for The Last Confession, starring the charming David Suchet (of TV’s Hercule Poirot fame) to photograph and videograph the two short scenes that were presented to the attending media.

I will be attending the opening night of the play - which deals with yet another scandal (fictional on this occasion) involving the Roman Catholic Church - tonight.

The following images – and the 2 video clips I shot - were shot using my new Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 super-zoom camera. I set the camera on its IA (Intelligent Auto mode). I took images with the camera hand-held, and I used a new monopod for the video.

I am so happy with the images and video I took – the camera, AWB and focus worked flawlessly during the media call. And, please remember that, I was shooting in very low light, hand-held, with the shutter speed at under 1/20th of a second!

I also stayed back after the call, and took some portrait shots of David Suchet, while he was being photographed by a staff photographer. Again, I was thrilled with the results.

Until next time …

Joe Calleri.
